I’ve been playing with PS4 Gold Wireless headset for the longest and while serviceable, I’m ready to upgrade. The Astro A50s are $300 and it’s hard for me to justify that type of money on a headset unless they are mind blowing. Is there good value to be had elsewhere? Read good things about SteelSeries, and I’m Jon Snow when it comes to Turtle Beach (I know nothing). Help a 20 hour a week gamer out y’all. TIA as always.

Does it have to be wireless?Otherwise get a nice pair of headphones that are wired. Sound better and best bang for your buck.

I looked at the Astro and absolutely no way I am paying for a $300 wireless headset without the ability to change the battery. Nope.

I also read a lot of complaints about their service being garbage and reading their forums, some of the solutions from the help were total garbage.

I'm about to ditch the cord too bruh. Finally sick of that shite getting tangled up in everything.

The A50s have been out forever and I would go newer tech for that kind of money.

I got sennheisers for almost half that. You can get way better for $300. The Astro A40's I had only cost me like $150.

The new A50s came out somewhat recently and they're pretty snazzy

The ones he has to wear because of cloud 9 endorsement deals?

Be sure to use his affiliate link while you're at it.

He was a Logitech G533 user up until a week or so ago

Yep, cloud 9 switched peripheral sponsors. He talked about it on stream the day he had to switch. They let him keep his Logitech mouse, since hyperX only makes 1 mouse currently.

They are snazzy and I like the wireless charging base but I just couldn't pull the trigger without a replaceable battery.

So far I really like the G933 I bought. Can't really give a good review on the sound since I'm close to deaf to start with but i've been happy so far. Not sure the battery lasts as long as stated.

I had the A40s for awhile and am now using Hyperx Clouds. I've learned the hard way that virtual surround sound is a gimmick and a good set of stereo headphones is the way to go.

My A40s collect dust and I'll never buy Astro again. My next set will probably just be a mid priced studio headphone with an external mic. "Gaming" headphones is a racket.

It's about convenience. Most of them have built in amps (albeit shitty) and mics, so you're not having to worry about buying multiple things and running multiple cables

That's ridiculous for headphones. Get some Turtle Beaches'. I'm on my third pair or so now and haven't had any complaints with any of the ones I've used. Ones I have now are wireless and probably about $80 or so. All you need for gaming man.

Thanks for all the feedback. While I understand wired headsets will be more crisp I just don’t care for them. Wireless controller, wireless headsets is the life for me. The PS4 Platinums seem to be a better build than the gold but not sure if the sound quality was upgraded enough, or at all.
