I still don't feel like I'm good, but my results lately say I'm at least improving now. I've gotten decent at getting kills in 1v1 and close range. Even took out a whole squad by myself at the start of my last game and I didn't even have a gun yet when I killed the first one. Regularly finishing top 10, and fairly consistently finishing top 5 unless I just have shitty squad members.
I'm still struggling a lot with using the different legend's special skills, so most of the time I really don't even try to.
I'm also still trying to figure out what are the best guns to use. Y'all have any suggestions on that?

R 301 is probably the best all purpose gun. Longbow for sniping. The R-99 shreds but it’s close range. Peacekeeper for a shotgun. Wingman if your aim is good. Those are about all I pick up. You on console or PC?

R301 is "Best" all around imo if you're still learning the game.
I've always been partial to the R99, it's an armor shredder.
A lot of people mention the peacekeeper/wingman as the best combo, but you have to be able to aim well.
One streamer I watch likes using an automatic weapon as a primary then a "finisher" weapon as a secondary. Something like R99/R301/Proweler/etc... to get them low, then a peackeeper/wingman to finish them off.

All that being said, there's nothing wrong with rolling with weapons you aren't accustomed to using or may not even like.
You won't always run into an R301 or your weapon of choice.

All of this. I force myself to use weapons I’m not good with (like the Wingman) to try to improve. Like he said, I think, you won’t always find your favorite combo so sometimes you just have to roll with what you get.

Hemlock (hip fire beast)
Alternator
Prowler with select fire is my favorite. Just melts people
R99 recoil is too much unless I have purple barrel stabilizer. Shotguns piss me off. Wingman pisses me off

Prowler is probably my favorite gun in the game if I can find the select fire for it. It's pretty much a lazer full auto plus you can use the digital threat with it.
Cant go wrong with the 301 or 99 for close range. Great to hip fire with.
Havoc and devotion are both really good with the turbo charger. Havoc can be decent without it but if you take the devotion you really need to find the turbocharger for it imo.
I personally just stay away from any of the shotguns but if I use one it's usually the peacekeeper. Just not that great with them personally.
I never use any of the snipers/dmrs. Fights are usually close range battles so dont normally have a use for long range weapons that arent that great close range.
The hemlock isn't bad. If you are really good at rapid fire with your trigger it can be really good in single fire mode.
Flatline is meh. Spitfire is pretty good. Since it's a lmg and has a lot of rounds in a mag it's good with hipfiring in cqb situations.
Re 45 is really underrated imo. It's really good short range with the high fire rate.
You should add me on xbox and we can play some. I'm not the best either but can usually hold my own.

Not necessarily.
Snipers have their place, you just have to play the game differently when you have them.
You can tear some motherfrickers up with an ACOG scout, even at medium distances.

The R-400
I just recently realized Apex gives you the option to change your ADS (aim down sight) sensitivity multiplier. Tried it out for a bit last night at a lower setting and it made a bit of a difference when tracking targets while aiming.
Also straight hot keyed my healing/shield items instead of having to deal with holding the 4 key down and using the menu.

Early game, RE-45 is very underrated.
Overall, I really like to run mid-range auto rifle (R301 is my favorite for this slot. Havoc or Devotion with Turbocharger, Spitfire, or flatline work here too.) and shotgun. I prefer EVA-8 over Peacekeeper, but I seem to be in the minority. I will sometimes take a Wingman over the auto rifle but only if I find my aim is on point. Typically I don't.
