Anyone play any racing sims?

I’ve been playing some F1 2020 recently and just bought all of the sims during the steam sale. Anyone play any of them?
Ripping around Speilberg in the Ferrari F2004 on Assetto Corsa is unreal fun with a wheel setup. Thinking about VR.

I bought Nascar 4 awhile back. Hadn't seen a race in years and didn't know who 95% of the drivers were. But it was a really fun game while you were trying to earn enough money to be competitive.

Just hooked my wheel back up for nascar heat 5. Racing online at Talladega and Daytona is fun as hell

Got addicted to iRacing about a week and a half ago and haven't looked back. It's a steep initial investment financially, but if you're serious about a good online racing scene it's worth every penny. Just got promoted to a C-Class road racing license so I'm looking to try out some of the GT3 series here pretty soon.
The force feedback compared to the likes of Forza 7 is pretty meh, but the actual feel and handling of the cars are completely unmatched. Forza feels like you're constantly on cold tires in comparison.

New players can get 3 months for a few bucks so not a huge investment to get your feet wet. Long term it’s very pricey though if you want to buy all the tracks and cars.
Agree 1000% on the feel and handling compared to Forza. I constantly slid in turns in Forza and couldn’t really get a feel for it without slowing wayyy down.
Love iRacing though ??

I haven't been back on Iracing in a while since I lost my space to hook up the wheel.
I miss it. It is a bit of an investment initially, but it's worth it when you finally start performing better.
My first win was at Richmond and it felt like I won the Daytona 500.
I wasn't great at road but I was getting better.

I use to play the old Papyrus NASCAR games that iRacing basically ripped the code from to make their game. Still got the C&D letter from them for the mod work we use to do to NR2003 before those frickers went after us.
Will never give them a dime.
Closest I get now is Trackmania, which is very far from sim and as arcadey as you can get for a driving game. Still get to have fun painting cars though. That's what I miss most about the old Papy days.

quote:Revisiting this now that I've discovered/installed irFFB. It's a 3rd party program that adds options to your force feedback settings. Pretty much fixes everything wrong with iRacing's base feedback. Much easier to tell when the car is starting to oversteer. I now officially have zero complaints with this sim.
The force feedback compared to the likes of Forza 7 is pretty meh

Been playing F1 2021 on Ps5. Ive been playing F1 games since 19, but never really liked racing games before i got hooked on the sport.
I’ve been drooling over Fanatec’s PS/PC podium series setup for a while now, but i feel like my wife would murder me if I went for that.
I’ve thought about the G29 setup to start out, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Taking your advice - looks like Gamestop is offering $280 for my 1TB PS4 Pro, and $27 for each of the 2 extra controllers that Didnt come with the system.
Combine that with the $25 in-store coupon i earned from getting the PS5, and I’ll be able to get the new G923 for just over $40! I’m stoked to try it out but i’ll have to wait til Tuesday for the wheel stand to come in.

Any of you have a full setup with cockpit? I’ve been thinking about it.

Finally ended up getting the G923. Went one step further and got an F1 wheel mod to replace the regular steering wheel (since F1 is really all I care about). Got it with the Gulf McLaren skin and i can honestly say it has been worth every penny. I am getting to where i can be pretty competitive now with all the assists turned off.

I’ve got an obutto revolution with triple 32” monitors, fanatec wheel, pedals, and shifter, four buttkickers, and a button box.

Would love to get the Fanatec Direct Drive for Playstation/PC and that will be what I eventually upgrade to. Just wasnt able to justify the price tag for my first setup until i knew I would love it and was going to stick with it.
How do you like yours?

Oh it’s great. Its completely different than racing with a Logitech G series wheel. If you know you’re going to use it, it’s easily worth the money. As long as you take care of it, it’ll have decent resale value as well.

I didn’t want to blow the bank just yet but I bought a really nice Next Level wheel stand 2.0 (can finish the cockpit later which was a big selling point) & a Thrustmaster T300RS GT Wheel/whatever pedals it comes with. Found an open box deal for ~$360 with shipping. Waiting for all that to arrive currently.
Been playing Assetto Corsa Competizione mainly but picked up the 3 month iRacing deal. We should all race on here!
