I love base building. I love survival games BUT...

Holy crap. It's Preston from Fallout 4 all over again. Shut the hell up with all that radio chatter begging for help!

At some point I need to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I need to see dramatic improvement. I need to start feeling like a badass. I don't think that will ever happen for me on this game. I start getting comfortable then the Juggernauts and Feral Zombies start wrecking my life.

Enclaves are dicks. Spoiled items is total bullshite. Hard enough to get stuff to then have it going bad because of some dickwad storage limits.

Forget the poor solitary survivors. Ain't nobody got time for that. Hell, I miss most of the enclave events which means they are going to turn hostile and attack me. Great. Thanks. Very relaxing. Heck most of the time I don't even realize they sent a message and I just get the pissy thanks for nothing message.

Oh, I've enjoyed it to this point but I just don't see myself getting good or ever feeling comfortable long term on this one.

Shame. With some minor tweaks and more PERMANENTLY cleared areas, They could have made a much better game. Maybe some mods will show up with some tweaks for the PC folks.

Don't get me started on night time. Holy crap. Seems like day lasts for 4 minutes followed by 23 hours of evil night.

Still having stressful fun.

I'm wondering if more zombies appear the longer you play or if they become more prevalent with each heart you destroy.

I say this because even though I killed 2 hearts near my new base, there are hoards roving EVERYWHERE. Seems like even at my old spot there are more zombies.

I haven't experienced too many bugs but I have gotten stuck in the ground a few times. Thankfully they have the remove me I'm stuck utility.

I'm on Xbox so I assume I don't have that utility.

yeah you do.

It is built into the radio menu. Down below the resources at the bottom should be the option to get unstuck.

Be careful if you get a vehicle you really like. Don't take the fast route down a hill or over rocks. It is easy to get vehicles stuck. Sometimes you can free them up if you ram them with another vehicle but I got one stuck in a gully for good.

if you flip a vehicle. you can get in front of it and flip it back over.

What add one do you go with at your base? I figure I'll use my outposts for food and meds. An Infirmary seems to be a must have

Infirmary leveled to where it auto heals injured folks over time. (Medic)

Workshop for car repair and bombs. (Craftsman & Mechanic)

Garden - food becomes an issue (Gardening)

Rain Gatherer - need water for higher level garden

I've purchased the highest base and I also have electricity.

Once I've saved enough points I will get an Electricity outpost, then drop a distiller in that spot to make fuel.

Then at some point I will replace the rain collector with something else when I get a water works outpost.

End game is lacking. Seems like once I have everything I can get, I'm still going to be struggling. There are various mods you can find and attach to each structure.

In place of water, you can attach a cooler to a structure that needs water. There is a bike generator you can attach to things that need electricity.

I don't like that you can only use one mod at a time per structure.

Moving into the BIG BASE was interesting. Building on all the hotspots at once made so much noise there was a MAJOR zombie attack. So be careful with noise.

This game is pretty hard because getting the right skilled folks can be a pain. After playing for a day, I restarted and if you skip the tutorial you can roll your 3 starting characters.

Seems like you need a medic

I did a restart myself. I'm still in my original house but I am looking to move into the strip mall at the north of the map. I also learned my lesson about building too much and making too much noise. It caused me to put up a guard tower but I'm guessing that is a waste?

I'm playing on the foothills map. I think you are playing on the plateau map so the bases are different.

The Big Strip Mall base doesn't come with guard towers so it might need some. My big base came with 4 sentry points.

They are only moderately successful in stopping attacks before zombies get in the base so I'm not sure they are necessary.

I'm glad I picked the foothills. The main base for Valley is a big pile of arse. And I'm not real fond of the Strip Mall.

I get that they want to make each map play differently but at the end of the day, the final base needs to have enough slots to upgrade all the best options.

I've had plenty of fun and I've spent a lot of time on the game so far so it was worth $30.

It could use some extra work.

Car physics can be a mess around rocks / hills. Ladders suck. I haven't died from them but I've seen lots of folks screaming over ladder deaths.

They needed to allow more than 1 special skill per person. This really bugs me. Finding useful people who don't have HUGE trait defects has been a pain in the arse.

They needed more building slots in the final base.

More areas should be entirely clear of zombies. At least the country side should show thinning out as the hearts are destroyed. Just some signal that you are making an impact.

I think I've killed about 8 hearts so far and it is worse than ever with zombies all over the fracking place.

Quests and Looting for influence.

I'm sure you have accumulated a lot of worthless items and some rare items. Sell it back to traders. Pick up everything. Sell spare mods. Sell anything that isn't useful. Save skill books. Even if you think you won't need them, save them just in case you need the skill down the road or someone in the base dies.

Don't sell anything that can be broken down to parts. You can use those later on. I've got a forge so I can make melee weapons. Once I have everyone equipped with decent melee weapons with some spares, I'll swap that out for a farm.

I figured I'd get the melee weapons I like and then just keep them up from there with a workshop

I think what you make at the forge is better than the standard loot melee weapons. But I think the rare weapons for sale are the best. Once I have enough for everyone I will destroy the forge and have a nice big farm.

I need to find a damn chemist so I can start distilling.

I hate night! It is funny how creepped out I get at night as opposed to daytime.

I don't mind the night but it is hard to see. I hate making runs and end up sticking close to home or doing base work then. My goal right now is to get into the container fort. I've decided the strip mall is too far away and I'll end up using a lot of fuel.
