The addition of multiplayer is a total game changer IMO. One of the few bright spots of the Wii U’s life cycle was the original Mario Maker and made for some great content on YouTube to watch when nothing else was on.

I honestly don’t see why Nintendo would have the gumption to release any new Mario title in the style of a side scroller with minimal story outside “save the princess” retold in a different way. They could just keep adding ideas to new Mario Makers and give spinoffs to other companies and the world would be at peace.

Looks like Nintendo’s probable top seller this year. Lot of people gonna be streaming it I bet.

Pokemon man. It'll outsell the lifetime sales of Mario Maker 2 in the first week.

But nah, I'm not really into the create-a-game genre. That combined with just not being real into 2D platformer means I'll skip it.

Definitely getting it. I watched the Direct the other night and it definitely got me even more stoked. My daughter and I still play the first one and love watching the YouTube videos of insane levels together.

It's a definite buy for me. My kids and I had a lot of fun making levels and downloading new ones with the first one on Wii U. The fact we can all play the levels together now is even better.

The only thing I wish the game had was the ability to make some kind of world map or "campaign" of levels. Not a deal breaker, but it'd be fun to build levels with a few themes that gradually build over multiple stages.

Pokémon

Original Mario Maker sold 1/4 exactly of Sun and Moon, the most recent true Pokémon game. They might be more neck and neck this time around given the console equality. Pokemon benefitted from nearly 70 million 3DS sold lifetime compared to 13 million for the Wii U.

Doesn't have as much to do with this as you think. Pokemon is more popular now than it was for Sun/Moon. Not to mention that the Switch is in it's prime versus the 3DS dying out.

This is what I was hoping for. Still will buy it but I thought it would be cool to make level "packs"

Most definitely.

The 3D World Kit looked pretty stunning for creativity.

And did anyone see the game voucher notification at the end?

That's a pretty good deal! Mario Maker and SSB for $99.99

Yeah, I picked up a voucher for shits and giggles and used half of it for Mario maker.

I doubt I’ll create many levels, but I think it’s a cool concept and I’m excited to try out whatever the community comes up with.

I hope the game includes local multi as well as online multi. I could see this being fun for some friends on the couch.

I agree. Watched many hours of gameplay by youtubers like Dashie, nova, and carlsagan. I bought the 1st game on wii U but just found it more fun to watch other play it because I sucked at the hard levels people made.
