Probably my most anticipated game of the year outside of CyberPunk which will probably drop next year.

Absolutely, game has a ton of hype. May very well be the top release on PS4 this year.

Not really no, they probably just debuted it a bit early. It started full production in 2015 and they debuted it at E3 2016 just barely over a year later.

SIE Bend also hasn't made a console game since the Syphon Filter series so could have had some issues along the way.

I love the gameplay I've seen of the zombie hoard mechanics and stuff, looks extremely tense and intriguing, however not a fan of the open world concept they chose to go with, just done to death over the past few years and at this point I view that style of gampelay as more of a chore than adding anything.

Without having played it yet obviously I think I would have preferred they structure it more linearally like a traditional game, with levels or missions or what not, like an Uncharted or Last of Us style (a game it's getting some comparisons to narratively). The set pieces with the zombies and stuff look to be the game's strength.

I'll see what the reviews say and how it's overall received. If it's a tight experience and doesn't have a mountain of open world bloat I may be down.

It’s probably a next gen game along with TLOU2.
