Another gaming monitor question

I know this is a popular topic on here but just looking for some recommendations on a good pc gaming monitor that will not break the bank. Looking to upgrade my nephew's gaming monitor. He currently has a 27" but was wondering how you guys feel about a 32". Admittedly, I don't know a whole lot when it comes to what is best technically.

34” 3440x1440 ultra wide checking in.
Also, if you’ve read the other threads, you already know what kind of information you should be giving

Depending on the game, mine still can make me motion sick, and I've pushed it all the way to the back of my desk. Damned thing is 32" wide and sits a grand total of about a foot and a half from my face. At some point, once GPUs can keep up, I'll upgrade to a 4k 21:9, but it for damned sure won't be any bigger

Being dumb when it comes to this stuff, hypothetically if I had a Ryzen 9 5900X CPU and GeForce RTX 3080, I'm assuming a 1440P monitor would be good? Go easy on me guys. Ha! I've noticed a lot of people recommend the LG GP850-B 27".

That cpu/gpu combo is about as good as it gets (which I assume you know already). But ultimately, your monitor sweet spot is going to be heavily influenced by the games you primarily play, and what your budget is.
I’ll use myself as an example. I’m a fairly eclectic gamer, but I play zero competitive FPS and lean towards big open world RPGs with maxed settings, ray tracing, the works. Massive frame rates just aren’t super important to me. At 3440x1440, I can easily cap out my monitor at 144hz playing some Indy title or older game, but fire up something like CyberPunk? My 3080 is probably turning out closer to 90fps. But I’m perfectly fine with that. But if you’re playing some crazy twitch shooter, you might want to keep settings low and hit 240hz. That’s all personal preference.

Agreed on Josh's points. What kind of games do you typically play? Are you competitive and trying to squeeze any performance gain possible?
The LG GP850 is a really nice monitor. I picked one up as well when I saw the sale.

What is the difference between the GP 850-B and the GL850-B?
Posted on 11/29/21 at 2:42 pm to UrbJones33
GP - 180Hz max refresh
GL - 144Hz max refresh
GL - 144Hz max refresh

Do you think it's noticeable and worth the price difference?

Without looking at the prices, if the difference is more than $50, no.
