The pier, rocky points and the two rocks in the back on each side are the best spots if you angle it when tossing the bait.

Edit: wait did everyone lose connection? I assumed it was only me and was my fault. I was in middle of best round yet and I got the yellow connection lost screen. I’m not sure why.

In the middle of the round it said someone went home quietly. After that everyone exited from the airport and the bait was back on the ground. The fishing tournament happened, and then it went away and we everyone lost their points from the tournament.
No one should be mad. You being booted shouldn't reset it for everyone. It's just a shite scenario but at least I didn't lose 300 bait because of it.

shite happens but I’m not mad. That really is an issue that the game designers need to work on. It should’ve auto saved before every round imo. It could happen to anyone though. No need to feel bad. We got time to redeem

The glitches were killing me. In the Mid to later rounds, fish would flee as soon as I pressed button to cast. Something was screwy. Then I got better luck tossing bait in river near basketball court waterfall.
Edit: sorry again . Never in my life did I think it would lose half the tournament. I was only worried it screwed yall out of that single round. Smh

Yeah Nintendo needs to get on the ball and fix these kinds of things.

My best round of 7 could've been 10 or 11 if not for the glitches.
I was lucky to hit five fish in all but one round. With that many people playing, you're good as long as you hit five. Anything else above five is just bonus.
The more we went, everyone got in a grove and we were catching 40-45 each round. It was fun. Thanks to all who participated.

I can adjust the time to earlier if need be. I wouldn't be opposed to hosting again because all who came found their spots and were catching more fish as we went along.
Need to know what time is best for all if we're going to do it again.
