I purchased a 6800xt reference card for $625 on Ebay. Seller stated it was to be used for a build but never used it. Open box, brand new. It is arriving today. Should I be worried? I am pumped about it. Have an ultrawide display so I can finally get high frames again.

Probably used for Crypto mining

If the seller has a great rating you'll probably be fine. I got my 6900xt off of eBay not too long ago and it's purring along like a champ

no need to worry even if used 2 years straight mining crypto. fears over-used gpus are overblown for the most part especially with newer gen cards

Most crypto miners heavily undervolt their cards and run them at good temps. I did it with my 3070 for over a year and it still gamed perfectly

I wouldn't worry about it. Take it out of the box and inspect it. Do you see dust on the fan blades or in the heat fins? Check the metal studs in the connection point on the card. Are they straight and look clean? If they both look good, you have a very new card, even if they lied about it never being used.
Now install it. Run some benchmarks. Are your scores roughly lining up with where they should be?
If all of the above checks out, rock out with your cock out and enjoy your improved gaming experience.

Ultra wide. Ew.
Unless you play competitive online shooters, standard ultrawide (21:9) is basically superior to standard aspect (16:9) in every conceivable way.
I very seriously doubt I'll ever own a standard aspect monitor as my primary monitor ever again.

Must suck to suck at shooters

Update. I scored a deal! I got the box it came with and the card is pristine. Zero dust. Don't think he installed it in a computer ever. It is great. Still had GPU PCIE cover on it.
I got a little worried when installing the GPU drivers for the first time as it black screened. A couple of restarts later the GPU is displaying at my full resolution and AMD software shows the driver has been installed.
Runs AC odyssey beautifully.

I still play shooters; I simply don’t game online anymore, at all. The games are mediocre and the communities are toxic as frick arse sucking travesties

You would probably be well served by doing a completely clean DDU wipe/install.

Yeah had to remove my old drivers doing that. That is what made me worried when it black screened after installing the drivers. Restart fixed it. All good.

DDU is under appreciated even in enthusiast circles. If my card starts behaving fricky, at all, a clean DDU wipe/driver install is literally my first troubleshooting step. And no one should ever install a new card without doing so. Just saves so much aggravation.
Eta: You have to be careful about how exactly you do it, though. It won’t hurt anything, but Windows is sneaky and it will sometimes break shite by installing a driver via Windows Update which causes problems.
