For me, online isn't a necessity for Nintendo. MP games like Kart were always games I enjoyed being with friends, so the experience wouldn't be improved at all by being blasted by a 14 year old hard arse.
I mean, if Nintendo is going to do online, don't be so Forrest Gump about it, but whatever. Just fodder for ridicule.

I just think they are naive about the concept in itself, and REALLY want to bring your first comment into the online space, this is why some of those decisions exist.
I guarantee the chat decision is driven by 1) Ridiculous fears of pedophiles 2) Not wanting online gloating/community forming to ruin game atmospheres. Just like you said, that 14 year old hard arse can ruin the experience. They try to design around that, but there's no way to do without sacrificing a good bit of convenience.

I thought about Metroid, but I know FE is a lot farther along than it (and I just wanted to play a new FE a lot more since I skipped Fates). I vote no on Pokemon, unless you're referring to Pokemon Let's Go.

I do think we get one huge surprise announcement in the form of Animal Crossing, another Maker game (Metroid maker anyone?), or, gasp, Kid Icarus.
I've seen parts. It looks neat, but has zero place at an E3 presentation. Neither does Fire Emblem really, but I like it so I excuse it.
As far as surprise announcement, I wouldn't be surprised on a new Animal Crossing since it's been a long time since they had a real one release.

That's exactly what these games are. They're pretty fun to just dick around in. Speaking of, Far Cry 5 is pretty damn fun. I just got it with that Target deal and I am having a blast with it.

I feel pretty certain it is but I still have no idea how you do a good superman game. They did magic with batman, but superman is such a hard character to build a game around.

Outside of some Metroid-esque temporarily removing power at the start, I don't see how it could be done.
