Gumbo tasted like Campbell's straight from the can. Red beans & rice was undercooked and had no flavor/seasoning. Poboy was small and overpriced. Will not go back.

That is the first negative review I have ever heard of the place. Give them another try.

Did anyone here recommend either of those things?

That's what I was thinking. I've had the red beans before and I agree, they're not very good. That's why no one recomended them. I probably wouldn't go there for a poboy either. I've had almost everything else recommended in this thread though and would go back for any of it.

In fact, I explicitly said they were the one thing there that I always found to be particularly bad. Just sayin'

you are a tough one.....their plate lunches are great. Had their pot roast just last week and damn it was yummy (and I'm a tough critic).

Their poboys are pretty reasonable. Where do you eat?

Heh heh. Heh heh. NOT funny.

Yes, in my opinion, an 8-inch poboy for $8.95 is overpriced. And since when does gumbo have carrots in it? There is no doubt in my mind that they took an industrial-sized can of Campbell's (or similar) gumbo (or chicken and rice), dumped it in a pot, threw in some chicken and sausage, and passed it off as their own. If that's what you call good, knock yourself out. I won't be back.

Actually, I think that IS the one I got... mama's roast beef and cole slaw? It was just small, IMO. The flavor was OK, but certainly nothing spectacular. Oh well, guess I'm just one of those picky food snobs.
