Picking up a Yoder tomorrow, after realizing the real covid shortage tragedy: outdoor convection ovens. They got me with the scarcity ploy, but I digress. 1 dealer in ATL?
Anyway, got the grill grates and cover. Do I need anything else? It comes with the 2-way (plate vent) heat deflector standard. I don't care/cook on the griddle, but I can see why others think otherwise.
Will the Yoder controller make my thermaworks signals redundant? I obsess over my temps and hot spots.

Sounds like you have it covered, you’re going to love it. You can still use your thermoworks but the grill is pretty solid on heat distribution. You’ll love the Fireboard controls, there is a lot you can do with the app.
I will say this, these grill rust very easily. As soon as you see a spot, take care of it. You’ll get a small can of Yoder paint.

Frankly, that's the main reason I stayed away from Yodor. I didn't want tp spend that kind of money on a pit that could rust so easily. I believe they even gave you a bottle of paint with the pit. I wanted all stainless.

I do agree with you, I wouldn’t buy one again. I get each pit has its own feature set but I’ve learned my almost $2k Yoder pretty much cooks the same as a $300 Pit Boss. And they probably aren’t scrapping rust every few months. All in all though, I’ve really enjoyed the grill and I think OP will as well. I think the new Fireboard integrated controller is damn hard to beat.

Really disappointed to hear this. I was planning on getting a 640 at some point in the future.

Thanks for the info. I'm actually going from a pitboss, and the fireboard controller and build quality sold me on the Yoder.
I'm pretty good with keeping the grill covered, but will keep an eye on rust.
Are there any pizza accessories to look at? Or will a pizza stone over the grill grates suffice?

No, the controller is a huge difference between the cheapo’s and the higher end, and the material. Pit boss has issues with maintaining a steady or accurate temp. I have a RecTec and it’s a tank.

I don’t think you be disappointed in a Yoder. It has really heavy gauge steel so rusting away is not an issue. It’s just the annual maintenance with paint. I actually had a Yoder in my cart and was ready to push the Buy button but a friend told me about Pitts and Spitts. I found that they also make one in 304 SS. So that’s what I ended up buying. I’m just lazy.

Don't get me wrong, it's super nice to have. Today's cook PP cook:
I cheated though, I smoked it for 4 hours with hickory in the gravity feed then threw it in the Yoder to finish up. Wanted more smoke flavor.
