I've got prefinished oak throughout the house, including the kitchen. Been in the house a year now, no issues with staining or scuffing anywhere, including the kitchen. We've got cats and no issues with claw marks either.

Since wood isn't ideal for kitchens we thought about wood looking tile but I think we're going back to wood.
We just finished a complete kitchen remodel (forced on us due to flooding/water damage). We bought our house a year ago and it had shitty wood laminate flooring throughout, including the kitchen.
In the year or so that we lived there, the laminate pieces started pulling away from each other in the kitchen leaving these big gaps. It was really odd.
We decided to replace it with wood look tile and it looks fantastic. That would be my recommendation if you are dead set on wood flooring but want something that will hold up a little better in the kitchen.

I do like the wood looking tile but not in the dining and living areas. And since I'm going for continuity in my floor plan, that wont work. B/C you're not gonna find wood tile that seamlessly transitions to matching real wood.

Of course not. We used the same tile throughout the entire 1st floor of the house and it looks incredible.
