Bump. Boston Butts $0.77 again!

Thanks for the heads up. The wife is on her way to pick up 2 Boston Butts from W-D so I can make Italian Sausage and then swing by Rouses to pick up a few whole fryers for $.59 a lb. to put in the freezer.

Yep. Wife just got back with a little over 16 lbs. for $12 and change.

Going to trim it up, debone it and remove as much sinew as I can to grind it all up and make Italian Sausage for the freezer.

I needed some Italian sausage last week and realized I didn't have any of mine on hand and had to buy some from Rouses-------it lacked that Italian Sausage flavor I like and had to doctor it up to make it good to use in my lasagna.

Can't wait to grind this stuff up and get it vacuum packed.

Damn that sounds awesome. I’ve never made it before.

I’m going to make pork stew. Basically same way I make Cajun chicken stew. I’m already second guessing what I got myself into This is the largest pot I own.

Also I have dinner plans almost every night this week, so not sure what I’ll be doing with all this stew.

That's what they make freezers for. I usually cook in bulk when I cook. Monday 2 weeks ago I cooked 4 lbs. of red beans, yesterday I cooked almost 2 gallons of chicken noodle soup, when I cook meatballs/Italian sausage and red gravy I usually make 3-4 gallons worth----same with gumbo.

I'll put it in quart freezer bags an take it out as needed.

Pop some lids on those babies and pack them away in the freezer for several nights of happy meals with little muss and fuss on your part.

Make some rice, buy a loaf of French bread, pop the top on a drink of choice and eat a hearty meal without a lot of time in the kitchen.

You'll appreciate all that work when you just defrost and warm the main part of the meal a few weeks or months from now.

$0.69 at Rouses. I know their meat can sometimes be iffy but the butcher was putting them out straight from the back if that helps.
