Anyone try this before? I was tempted but wanted to get something I knew would not create a bunch of smoke.

I haven't used any lately, but it used to be well regarded.

Takes a little longer to light, but produces less ash.

Hard to light, but very good for a long, slow cook. Often has huge pieces in the bag.

Bassil's Ace as mentioned above. That and the Ace on Metairie RD are my goto for hardwood charcoal. They both really cater to the grilling crowd.

I use the bag next to it... Rockwood, it’s 100% Missouri hardwood. It can burn both hot and long. The wicked is also very good. Either or and you’d be fine.

I just bought a bag of Rockwood today from Goodwood HW. Lady there said it is their most popular. Have not tried it yet. Looks like good quality
