i cant remember how to make it. flour, oil and milk? anyone have any good recipes?

I disaree with this because it is good, but the more I think about it, the more I think that when I did eat it, it wasn't in LA.
The gravy I get for breakfast is tomato gravy- and that is my favorite.

Opinionated? Sure. Prick? To some. Ignorant? No.
I'd be ignorant on the subjects of white gravy, rednecks and alabama had I never tasted it, met any, or been there. But I have on all accounts, which is how I arrived at my opinion that white gravy has absolutely no redeeming value much like rednecks and that entire God forsaken state.

Absolutely, and for the love of South Louisiana and all things Holy, please start requesting it. Anywhere that serves chicken fried steak will probably also be serving mashed potatoes so they should have brown gravy. If they don't you should order something else or just leave.

i cooked some bacon in a pan, almost burned it to get some bacon pieces to stick in there, then took the bacon out
to put in my faux mashed potatoes..i used cauliflower...they were great..i added cheese, fat free sour cream, and light cream cheese just to even out the bacon and cheddar ;)
then i put a half a stick of butter and some flour on top of the grease, and added in some browns milk when it was done as well as some tonys and it was great.
i put it on top of my chicken fried steak (battered in ritz and flour), and stuck it next to a side of french cut green beans.
not too shabby. nice little dinner.
