Thoughts on 1910? Is it worth the ~$65 that we have to spend to get it here? I’m pretty sure it’s only distributed here in the 2 pack here (Lafayette) at Costco.

Picked that pack up over the weekend. 1910 is delicious. The OF100 isn't bad either

I see one aged in wlw barrels but it’s a different looking bottle. A shorter bottle. What’s the difference? I been seeing those...is it good? Might try and track some down.

Need some proofs tonight, long day

Probably not the anejo. The short bottles are everywhere. Usually store picks aged in those. Looking for the tall bottles.

have a good friend who loves bourbon but can’t handle anything above 110 or so. I don’t get it. Love the bp’s, just add a damn ice cube if you can’t hang...

Because it’s disgusting

I like some peat scotch’s but I can not take that one. I have a just about full bottle I’ll give to anyone in the laffy area. I am not they type to pour hooch down the sink.

I hated it the first time I tried it years back, lol. I didn't know what I was getting into when I ordered it at the bar.

Key is to buy a bottle and come back to it every month or so. Once you get used to it, it starts to grow on you. Laphroaig is definitely the heaviest hitter of the Islay distilleries and is not for the faint of heart. Pairs well with a good cigar though.

I’m really enjoying the peats I’ve had lately, but leohroaig just was too much. I like a good balance of smoke with fruit and sweet. Highland Park 12, Lagavulin 16 and most recently the Port Askaig 8 have been awesome that I have. I tasted two Laphs: one was pretty good on the front but tasted like bad dirt on the finish, and the other was nothing but peat on the palate while the finish was very nice.

If you have any suggestions for a balance of smoke and sweet besides the three I listed, I am all ears. I plan to get Lag Distiller soon, since someone suggested to me recently. Just looking to expand my selection to some different expressions.

Have you tried any Kilchoman offerings. The Sanaig and Loch Gorm are both great and for the profile you described.

I do like Laphroig. It’s not on the same level as Lagavulin, Ardbeg or Kilchoman. But I’ve yet to find an Islay whisky I didn’t like.

I have in laws in Broussard. If no one else takes you up on it, I'd be happy to dispose of it next time I'm out that way

Batch 63 is fantastic, though I’ve heard the earlier batches (30s and 40s) are blow your mind good.

Will tomorrow.

Great day completed, son’s Stagg set on his bday today completed with b12 jr added finally. and corazon set finished:fingers crossed:

Now because I’m weird I need to complete btac sets for kids birth years. plan on throwing hell of a wedding for daughter and hell of a rehearsal dinner for son. Will be popping some expensive bottles in 25 or so years.

The tequila is for me this summer though. Like stated before flight comparisons are my thing.

I always think of the big three from Islay like this.

Ardbeg is sweet peat.

Lagavulin is oily peat.

Laphroaig is dirty peat.

If you're looking for something with a little smoke but very balanced and not overpowering, go with Talisker 10. One of my all time favorites.
