Rum is usually aged in used Bourbon barrels since there is no requirement for a new barrel. Just like bourbon different distillers have different characteristics for, their flavors. This is Four Square, which I tend to get a flavor, with some vanilla and over ripe red fruits, even a tobacco note to sometimes. It is likely the most approachable if you like, bourbon, Some of the Jamaican rums know as Trelawny style rums are gong. to be very overripe tropical fruits with a funky flavor that can be medicinal. This is due to,their higher ester content. Those rums are good for scotch drinkers that enjoy heavily peated scotch.

Out of Jackson Mississippi, and their young juice does have a bite due to the high rye, but their single barrels and aged (6+ years) is so mellow

I love the OWA. It is my fav wheated right now. I just can't find it often and it's a little pricey. So I go easy on the bottle.

$85 for a 6 year is tough to justify, but I'm happy I finally did it
