It’s a single barrel that Total Wine couldn’t sell so they sold it to a local retailer at a steep discount. It’s ok. A solid option is the double foundation. It’s a 5 year double oaked. It’s around $50. Barrell Seagrass is a finished rye that I really like but it’s around $80.

Has anyone ever transported bottled bourbon in checked luggage while flying? Is it legal?

Legal. Run the risk of some stealing it. Not much you can do to bypass that risk though.

I've done it with no issue, you just want to make sure that the cork isn't going to pop out with the change of pressure.

So if the bottle is sealed it shouldn’t need anything extra right?
Posted on 8/4/25 at 8:19 pm to Bow dude72
Probably not but it's a good idea to put it in a big Ziploc bag and tape the opening for reinforcement in case the bottle breaks or the cork pops. It will keep bourbon from leaking out. I've never had one pop or break but I'm sure one will eventually.

Seems the owners of Uncle Nearest are in a little bit of trouble. Bank that loaned them 100 million dollars says they have not been making payments. Apparently the owner Fawn Weaver bought a 2.2 million dollar house in Martha’s Vineyard with some of the loan money. The bank is about to take over the distillery.

Going to be a flood of "barrel opportunities" on the horizon

Had a guy at Jack Daniel’s tell me it was pretty much a shake down when Fawn Weaver first started inquiring about Nearest Green and his role with Jack Daniel’s. He implied that if Jack Daniel’s did not start promoting her version of the story they might be inline for a boycott.
