How do you happen to just meet Jim Rutledge on a random Tuesday night?

Love that stuff. They should be dumping another batch soon, or is that the new one?

He was in my area for a barrel selection unveiling/dinner event. I marvel at his passion for bourbon and approachability. I talked to him about a lot of different things. When I brought up the FR125 he told me the gift shop normally puts back four bottles of the distillery's special offerings so he can give each of his children a bottle for Christmas. He only got two bottles of the 125

Any reviews of the Buffalo Trace Single Oak project? Saw it at Dorignac's yesterday for $69.00.

That's overpriced, they usually sell for about $50.

I've only had one that I felt was really worth the price, Round 14, Barrel #34.

You aren't really missing out. I have better luck with the Experimental Collection. The 19 yr Giant French Oak I got at Alexanders was exceptional.

Guessing the new...I recall seeing last year's being 134 proof, this year's may be a bit lower

That's pretty cool you got to talk to him! I heard a story about him not getting many bottles and thought it was BS...guess not. Can't believe I got as many bottles of 125th as the master distiller lol

They had 2 bottles of the experimental 9 yr 5 month bourbon made with rice there as well. Bottled 2011. I have a friend that raves about that stuff.

No, it is legit.

125th

I asked him if he thought that was the best he had ever bottled and he replied that it would be that or the 100th Anniversary OBSV. I believe that bottle (and its price tag) has been mentioned here recently.

For you Knob Creek fans, calandro's has a barrel select single barrel reserve, cases and cases of the stuff at the Perkins store. $44.

Churchill's had 3 Elijah Craig Barrel Proofs on the shelf. Now they have two. Clerk said they just arrived yesterday and that's all they have. $50

I went to 5 different stores today and did not see a single bottle of Blantons. Used to be everywhere.

I've been told that all Buffalo Trace products are allocation only now. I know a few stores have had their private barrels postponed indefinitely just because they can't keep up with demand.
