Yea, you have to go visit the distilleries. Barton 1792 is right in Bardstown, Willett and Heaven Hill are just 5 minutes out of town. Makers is maybe 30 minutes out. Four Roses is 40 minutes or so and Woodford is just a little bit further than that.
Louisville is about 45 minutes away and Evan Williams is there, Michters is opening there soon and one other I can't think of right now. I haven't been to Buffalo Trace because they said the tour is terrible, even though they put out the best stuff in my opinion. And Wild Turkey supposedly has a badarse facility, I'm just not a fan of their products in general.
So everything is within an hour or so of Bardstown and tours at each are all 30-60 minutes. And you get some kind of swag with each.

I disagree. I enjoyed the BT tour. It wasn't as good as Beam or Maker's, but not terrible at all.

Was the worst tour of the 8 distilleries we visited.

JNCOs and a starter jacket and you'd be set.

They were bottling PVW20 when we were there. Literally hundreds of bottles were looking right at me. The aroma was heavenly.

This thread is insane. My first post in it. I love bourbon. I was on Maker's for a long while (i'm sure there are other's in here as well- but my bottle of Maker's is ready (from my barrell with my name on it) from our and LSU's last trip to Lexington- went on the tour and became an ambassador.
I then discovered Buffalo trace and it opened my eyes. Then Eagle Rare and Blanton's and my eyes were opened even more.
Currently Buffalo trace and Eagle rare are my go to's. In the last month I have bought a bottle of the Prichter's and Bookers to get some more expensive bottles in my collection. I want to try the 4 Roses and the Elijah Craig. What else do i need?

Oh yeah what really got me going on this kick was after a good week at work me and my co worker went to lock n key to celebrate. We each had a Pappy 20 and a Michter's 20 that night. Holy shite. Where can i get me some Michter's? I have heard great things about the 10 year. Anyway, i'll try and make my way backwards through this thread and I thank you in advance for all the wisdom within it. Cheers.

Look at some the eh Taylor's. Micters are hard (not impossible) to come by. The 10 is awesome...haven't opened my 20s (cuz they 400ea).

Starter jacket...you would be profiled at the door

Out with the old ofbb and in with the new!

I was wondering if anyone has tried this? I saw Social got a bottle and I almost tried it the other week. Paul has a bottle for sale still for $400 and I hate to pull the trigger on it, especially hoping next month is big on other arrivals.

I have not. Been looking for a place to have some to sample. Also waiting for a good reason to have some.

Yea, realized I didn't say that after I posted it.

NOLA, Social has a bottle. I want to say its $55 a shot maybe? i know it was cheaper than the 23 y/o Pappy up there.
I actually saw the 30 year old Michters in Bardstown....if anyone wants to pony up $3500.
