I see it every time I hit up my local shop but for whatever reason pass it up. I think I'll give it a try next time I'm doing some buying.

I have had it...it's not too bad. I'm not a huge rye fan but don't recall disliking the AE rye. I have only had one bottle and it's been a while...I have another I just haven't cracked yet.

Enjoy it. Probably one of the easiest to drink ryes.

I'd get John J over breckenridge...I really like John j bowman. Bowman brothers is good too if you don't want to spend on the John j.

Breckinridge is a very easy to drink bourbon that has enough complexity to keep it interesting and cheap enough to keep drinking it on a regular basis. The John Bowman is more complex and has some nice spice to it and is still a good buy even at the price point. The Bowman Brothers is a very good small batch also, but NOLAGT is right when he's pointed out that it's worth the extra cash to go for the John J single barrel.

Which one is available there now? Most recent ones were Gingerbread Beer Finish and Port Finish and I heard they just released a Double Barrel in VA.

I personally liked the gingerbread beer finish. I was able to pick up on some of the cinnamon and sugar tastes, but it was after some spicier whiskey which may have been why. NOLAGT was underwhelmed when I let him try it. Among the Abe Bowman releases, I think it's one of the more understated and not as sought after ones.

Ok I have a theory...or a thought...whatever...

So we were talking about rye's earlier and I have some Rittenhouse (really good especially for the price..$20, but like others have said, it's doesn't stand up to some of the better rye's out there) anyway...

The label and the bottle just look so cheap to me. I think if they'd do a redesign on both, the product would taste even better. It's like when you buy a bottle of $10 wine that has a really slick label...it just 'tastes' better.

you smellin' what I'm steppin' in? Or do I just sound ridiculous? Be honest (ish)
