quote:Great stuff, especially for the $$. It's a wheated bourbon and the same mashbill as WLW and PVW.
I picked up a bottle of W.L. Weller 12 year old to try...
As much as I like weller 12, old weller antique 107 is cheaper and even better imo

Good pick. One of the best bottles for the price, especially if you like the wheated bourbons.

Completely different styles of bourbon. The Weller 12 is wheated. The Basil Hayden is high rye.
If you like Basil Hayden, try Old Granddad 114. Neither has an age statement. They are both made by Jim Beam and they have the same mashbill. Only differences are the OGD114 is 114 proof instead of 80 and it can be bought for $25.

Thank you.
I'll try the 107 and apparently the 114 as well. I love the basil hayden's. Know nothing of why, merely that I enjoy it.
Dr. Seymore Beardfacé, might be the greatest handle the world has ever seen.
Thanks again.

Its pretty good for only 28ish. They have come down in prices the last couple years. My next one will be their spiced rum.

FPD, SPD, and TPD all Angel's Envy. It is dangerously smooth.

The Barterhouse is great for the price. Nose had some apricot, honeysuckle, macadamia nut. Taste had some black cherry, dark chocolate, raisins, honeysuckle and good oak spice with a bit of pepper. Finishes with touch of caramel and the honeysuckle lingers. Good pour and definitely mellow like you'd expect out of an old wheater.

Anyone had Camulet Farm yet? Grabbed a bottle yesterday and the two pours I had were very good. Not very spicy and went down extremely smooth. Super easy to sip on. Made by western spirits I believe.

Honestly that would make more sense to me since it was fairly spicy and had almost some mint tastes at times. I just figured it was a wheat since it was Bernheim and the mellowness for a 20 year made sense.
