very true, and I have purchased many of those bottles. We are all in the same boat and in competition for the same bottles.

I agree. Life and work have been busy enough let alone running the streets for 3-4hrs a day hunting bottles in the months of Oct and Nov. More props to the people that can and want to do that.

It's really not difficult...no running around required. Go in a few times...buy some cases of wine, even better have them order a case of Bourdeaux, etc....express your interest in what you like...call or text them or they will even call and text you. I have developed real friendships this way. I have my secretary call them when I'm busy. Who would spend hours driving around? When I drive somewhere, I'm there to buy. When this doesn't work, I call my friend at Republic.

I refuse to pay secondary prices. The above takes very little time or effort. It's really just where and when I direct my wine business. We drink a bottle or two a night and I make a point to gift my clients booze...and direct tgat business where it needs to go.

You can do this to a varying price point and degree pretty easily.

I mean it's common sense. I spend 5-10 Grand on Christmas presents for clients. I don't wait until December to do it. I will be in next week handling that business so I'm fresh in their minds.

I had a client throwing a party. He asked me where to go. I texted the store owner and came in with him to introduce him. He spent 8000 on booze and promised future business. The owner couldn't stop thanking me. I took my client to lunch and killed two birds with one stone.

The business I'm in helps, but I've had bottles of Pappy held for me for 8 years now...back when I was broke. Be nice, knowledgeable and memorable.

Once again, there are varying levels as I stated. Back when I thought Ridley Strong was the best cab I had ever had, I still got a bottle held for me. I chatted with them...took their suggestions, etc.

We have gotten serious with wine...that has helped. My business partner and I split cases, but I volunteer to call them in.

With a good and positive attitude, you can get anything.

Most people don't realize the amount of wine and booze business they amount to.

And I almost always crack the bottle open there and share it with the owner and the salesmen. I let them know I will do it too when they hold a bottle for me.

Please tell me again what your problem is with how I do things?

i dont give a shite how you do anything. you throw around a bunch of money and spend WAY too much time in liquor stores. are we supposed to be impressed that you get fancy bottles?

how do you think those of us that have decent collections got them? we did the same shite as you.

i just choose not to anymore because i have better things to do and enough whiskey to last me quite a while

I guess I don't bunker bottles either. If I get extra, I will trade them or sell them at what I got them for...which I have done with several on this board.

Nothing wrong with bunkering...it's one way of handling this bourbon craze.

I tried for two OFBB...looks like one for me. If I got a 3rd, I would scroll back and find the poster I had promised it to and sell him a bottle at what I paid for it. I don't want or need more than two for the year.
