Where to eat in The Highlands, NC?

Paoletti's is my favorite "nicer" restaurant in the area.

Have had really good dinners at Wolfgang's, On the Veranda, Ugly Dog if you want something less expensive.

We just got back from there last week. Stayed at Old Edwards Inn and Spa. It was wonderful. High of 71 the day we left. Had one meal at Madison's and wasn't impressed with the food or service. Fish was forgettable as was the truffle Mac n cheese. Charcuterie board was good though. It would be a nice place to have a glass of wine outside. Could do much better for the price point. Pescados has good burritos, didn't try anything else. Good place for quick inexpensive lunch and you can sit outside. Another Mexican place that was good was El Azteca. A little more authentic than your typical Tex mex. Service was not great though but they said before they sat us that some staff was a no show. We ate breakfast every morning at the local store on the end of Main Street, can't think of the name. It has tables inside and outside as well and they also serve lunch, not sure about dinner. Typical diner type food but good. Neat little grocery too. Others with us ordered to go from Lakeside and they enjoyed it. We did not partake though. We tended to stay away from the nicer restaurants (except for the one dinner at Madison's) since we had a 2 and 3 1/2 year old with us. Depending which way you are coming, there is a produce stand at the bottom of the mountain, stop and get some South Carolina peaches. The ones they had when we were there were free stone "July Flame". The best peaches I have ever had in my life. Hope you enjoy your trip, it's a nice little town.

Go south about 14 miles to Dillard, Georgia and enjoy the Dillard House and its beautiful scenery. LINK
