Fired up the Rec Tec and smoked a couple chickens and the ingredients for a homemade salsa.

Hosted an Oktoberfest tonight. Schnitzel with lemon or gravy, caramelized onions, and sauerkraut, two types of bratwurst, German potato salad, red cabbage, asparagus, spaetzle (kind of), soft pretzels, and good Marzen Oktoberfest beer

a tree fell on my pit during ida.
today I went shopping and after looking at all the 1000 dollar pits I came home with a 200 dollar Home Depot special, which I used for 20 years before I bought the high dollar one. Char-griller FTW
tonite it’s baba ganoush with roasted eggplant, smoked turkey wings and ribs, blue cheese slaw and beans

What an interesting thing to do. I'm a big fan of most things Oktoberfest, having lived in Europe and attended the real Oktoberfest in Munich. My preference for beer has been bocks and stouts, but authentic German food is hard to come by in this area. I can't recall seeing much of anything commercially available.......you'd have to know German families, and I do.......many of them 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation descendents to get the real thing.

We do one every year. My mother in law was raised in Berlin so it’s a nice homage to her childhood. Plus it’s interesting to learn and teach the younger generation about the cultural origins of the food and festival. Not to mention damn tasty food
