Growing up, my mom did that salad, but instead of pineapple, it was half of a pealed pear.

Creamed spinach with sour cream. Very good.

We had both pineapple and pear that way. The salt in the mayo and cheese worked well with the sweetness. Once in a while I do it. I like it and it reminds me of my grandmothers.
