To be fair chicago is a tourist town with no soul
Most the people downtown not from Illinois
Most the people in the hip areas like lake view are out of town or chi suburbanites in 20s and 30s who think they have to live there to get cred
Chi overall is just inauthentic and boring so much that the chains have more authenticity than most local places if that makes any sense
