He and his wife must be huge. There's no fricking way Brag and I could even eat HALF of what he said he orders at Sammy's.

I'm 175 lbs, wife is 115 lbs. I can eat crawfish until my fingers are cutting up from peeling too much.

Your shite is weak.

I was just saying I can eat at doe's for the same price as sammy's which is similar dress code. I understand if you're not splitting a steak cost/person will be higher. But there is no way in hell I can eat 1.5-2lbs of steak without regretting it.

Your comparison here is kinda funny imo because you are comparing an insane amount of food at Sammy's to a rather small amount of food at Doe's.

Maybe you missed this part:

quote:

It takes about 5-6 lbs of boiled to = 1 lb peeled crawfish. (does 1 lb meat = $22; sammy's 1 lb meat = $20-$24)

Also coach's plate is a large app. So is a dozen tamales with chili. We usually bring some of each home when we go to these places.

that 2lbs of steak you are ordering at doe's is not 2lbs of meat at all. ribeye has more fat than you need and the other steaks have the fat and a bone.

like poli said, we are talking semantics now.

for me PERSONALLY, if I'm spending that much on a steak

Just to be clear, aside from the fact that you don't like steak, my understanding of your stature would dictate that you would never be spending that much on a steak.

At $22/lb. you could get by with maybe an $8 steak.

And no we can't let it diiiiiiiie!

Update: what do yall think of this?
I think I agree with everything you said. If the owner cares, he would update the restaurant, update his staff, get better quality food and lower the prices. I had the same experience there as well. I'd rather go spend my money elsewhere.

Tamales were decent... But I can buy those homemade by the bushel for a little bit of nothing

Well apparently the owner saw this thread and read the whole thing. Figured out who I was and looked up my bill in their machine and saw the table I was at. Looked up the number that made the reservation and called them to ask about the thread/complaints and basically ask if they thought the same way because i bashed the hell out of the place apparently (along with our waiter). My friend loves the place so he said he thought everything was great. The owner then asked him for my phone number so he could talk to me. He gave it to him but the owner never called.

Thoughts?

owner trying to rectify the situation? or kinda weird to go that out of his way for 1 customer?

The hell? Kinda wierd. I'd be pissed if he tracked me down that way. If he read this thread, he could have responded in it. Could have offered for you to come by the restaurant. Looking up my bill, calling a friend, friend giving out my number, doesn't even call, and doing all this because of a post on a message board is a little crazy. I think rjone is going to be the next 2lbs offering, plus or minus a few bite size pieces of fat, for $22 a pound as analytically compared to Sammie's crawfish.

Damn that's strange, the guy must be a headcase or carews a little to much about their reputation. He should have at least called and offered dinner on the house.

Agree.
And worst part is the restaurant wasn't "slammed" as people informed the OP and others about the restaurant. I still say it it not my kind of place and likely will never be.. but I certainly wouldn't slam the place for doing what they do.

At the point Rjone is at, I'd almost be afraid to speak with the owner because the work he put into tracking him down sounds like he's an angry man. Much unlike Beaxnes who decided to get on the board and talk with posters about problems they had in a kind manner.

This is in Springfield, not B.R., but the size of the steaks are very large, like Doe's. I get the 16 oz ribeye when I go. It is cooked the way I like it. The meat is good. It's $19.95!! And, I highly recommend this place.

The seafood is excellent too. You probably will have a wait, but there is a bar.

yeah, that's going a bit overboard ... the owner should have just posted in this thread and then it would have been rjones' call as to whether or not he wanted to accept any offer the owner made ... rjones is neither the first nor last person that will have that opinion of doe's eat place .. personally, i like the place because i am just not really a formal person and i love large slabs of red meat and beer, but i can see where the place can turn people off ... like LL said, beauxnes pretty much handles himself better than any restaurant owner i have ever seen in here .. the rest always seem to meltdown eventually under the criticism ..
