Watermelon looks like raw tuna steak

I cut open this melon i bought sunday and it looks weird! Texture and look are like raw tuna...I'm scared to eat it. It looks like the one on this pic.

I got a watermelon from Rouses on Clearview the other day that was kind of weird like that. It didn't have any open gaps but was a darker red like that and had four approximately one-inch circular waves in it.
It tasted a little funny but I was hungry so I ate it anyway. The texture was a little strange, though; kind of chewy.
I didn't get sick or anything. But I'm reluctant to buy another one.

I went searching Google after wondering if it was safe to eat. That article had a pic that looks just like the melon I got
