I think that Danny is a wonderful guy. Truly do.
He’s not a trained chef and his experience roots from crock pot food at Port Royal. WHICH IS COOL.. but .. I don’t understand why he and a couple other similar locals I won’t name get elevated to chef status..
Because he fed your drunk hipster asses cheap crock pot food you assume he can't make good food?
Var's is legit.
My kids absolutely LOVED the Nutella pizza. Nasty lil frickers like peanut butter on pizza?
I loved the meats pizza but my favorite is The Quad. It's simple but so fricking good. Red Sauce, Mozzarella, Goat Cheese, Ricotta.
The thing that really sets Var's apart from other 'good' pizza in the area is the crust. That's not just me saying so.
The verdict is out now and everyone is talking about the crust.
It's like no other pizza crust I've had. It's definitely in a league of its own.
Best way to describe it to locals is if Little Village Bread was a pizza crust. It's THAT good on its own.
I could eat breadsticks of that crust all day and get even fatter.
Danny Wilson is killin it and it's NOTHING like Unleaded or some rebrand. It's a new restaurant all together.

Good pizza and I'm glad it's doing well, but it is very very pricey

I posted this in another thread. I've been twice and while the pizza is ok I still prefer Red Zeppelin. The outdoor area of Red Zeppelin is 10x better with the fans/heaters along with their TV's. Also I like the fact the Red Zeppelin has more beer on draft and beer prices listed while Vars does not.
Their cheesy bread is similar with Red Zeppelin have a bit more of a flavor I enjoy, idk if it is the dipping sauce or what since it is just French bread covered in cheese with garlic sprinkled on top.
Pizza I just prefer the Red Zeppelin style rather than Vars, I tried getting just a pepperoni and whole it was ample for two people and left a lot for the next two days there was something about the sauce that left a lingering flavor in my mouth.

Just had RZ the other day. Comparing the two, Var's reheated better than RZ.

I had it this past weekend and thought it was pretty mediocre. I'm a fairly harsh critic when it comes to pizza, though. I don't think RZ is anything special, either.

I went there last time my wife and I were in BR. It was absolutely nothing special, pretty mediocre to be honest, but if they’re doing well, good for them.
