Thanks, all. Keep it coming. I'd sure like the pizza joint if you get a name. Was it Blue Moose?

In Vail Village, Pazzo's Pizza is really good. For German food, Alpenrose is the best German food that I have ever had...much better that Pepe's (also in Vail Village). For upscale...Sweet Basil, Le Tour, Kelly Liken, Vail Chophouse and Terra Bistro are good bets. Splendido at The Chateau in Beaver Creek is really good, as well. For really good bar food try The Tap Room. Also try the Minturn Saloon for good margaritas, and their duck fajitas are the best thing on the menu.

I went for Mardi Gras last month. My lineup was on the high end but did my research:

Night 1: Kelly Liken. Great haut-cuisine from an up and coming chef.

Night 2: Supposed to go to Sweet Basil, but not in the mood for more haut-cuisine 2 nights in a row, so went to Red Lion instead. This is a casual burger joint with an active bar scene. Nacho's were enormous. Sweet Basil is supposed to be equal to Kelly Liken for the top 2 places in Vail.

Night 3: Blu's. I went for the wine list really. Food is OK but the vino is great at a good price. I got a bottle of 93 German Riesling for $60. Food like chicken fried steak or Osso Bucco.

Night 4: Larkspur. This was one of the best meals I've ever had-EVER. Haut-Cuisine again. One of the old line upscale Vail places, so it gets overlooked for the newer, more popular ones like Liken or S Basil. My rec is to at least go to this place one night. It will be on the tip top of my list next time I go to Vail.

Enjoy

One place you need to hit...
Lancelot. It's an old school place in business for 40+ years. We had awesome prime rib, scallops, and fish dishes last night.Anyone coming here needs to put this place on their schedule.
