re: Vail...recommendations needed

In Vail Village, Pazzo's Pizza is really good. For German food, Alpenrose is the best German food that I have ever had...much better that Pepe's (also in Vail Village). For upscale...Sweet Basil, Le Tour, Kelly Liken, Vail Chophouse and Terra Bistro are good bets. Splendido at The Chateau in Beaver Creek is really good, as well. For really good bar food try The Tap Room. Also try the Minturn Saloon for good margaritas, and their duck fajitas are the best thing on the menu.

I have been to all three of the bbq spots in Lockhart (Smitty's, Black's and Kruez's). I agree with the above posters and think Kruez's is the best. I am a big fan of the fatty brisket with the saltine crackers and sliced cheese with a side of jalapenos. In my opinion, this is the best bbq in Texas.
People like the restaurants on Lake Hefner. There is a Louie's up there...would be a great place to watch basketball, but the food is average.

I highly recommend Cheever's and Iron Starr...both are a must. I can't remember if Cheever's has a tv in the bar or not, but the chicken fried steak is worth the trip alone.

If you are looking for an upscale dinner, you'll want to try The Coach House or The Metro Bistro in the Nichols Hills area.

Are you in the oil and gas business?
Contrary to the previous posts, there are many good restaurants in OKC. Two of my favorite are Iron Starr BBQ (www.starrbbq.com) and Cheever's Cafe (www.cheeverscafe.com). Iron Starr might be a better place to watch basketball, though. For Mexican, try Ted's Escondido. Charleston's has very good food, as well as, a good bar to watch sports. Hope this helps.
