I love sushi but it’s the biggest ripoff. It doesn’t get me full so I can eat $50-75 worth of sushi easy. That’s without drinks and tip and tax

sushi (good sushi anyway) is a premium product made with premium ingredients thus the price. As to it “not filling you up” you might want to go get checked for a tapeworm LOL

$50 bucks or more per person for a full meal is cheap for premium fish preparations. shite you can spend that at a fast casual chain

Went this weekend. The sushi was good and tasted very fresh. The sushi rolls were good enough. A lot of the rolls they offer have soy paper. The photos of the menu on Yelp are correct but a note, the Hibachi listed must all be cooked in the back because there is no hibachi in the restaurant.

They still have some growing pains to work out. The server didn’t really know what he was doing, but was very nice. The management was at least instructing him on what to do. The sushi rolls were rolled too loosely - they tasted good though, just need to tighten them up. And a guy at a table behind us had a minor complaint that they didn’t ask him what temp he wanted his steak cooked. They cooked it med well which he was fine with, but he just gave that critique to the manager/owner when he came by.

A hack for the Austin/Dallas/Houston Uchi is to go during happy hour. The menu is smaller but cheaper.

There was a social media uproar a while back since some of their menu arrives daily on flights from Japan. Someone had calculated the fuel and emissions for that, but “sushi flights to Texas” isn’t really a thing… more like just hitching a ride.

It can get pricey real fast if he's ordering premium items like otoro tuna and uni, and $50 won't get you much food if you're ordering that type of stuff.
