I just got one of these yesterday. Can't wait to break it in. First question, what pellets besides Traeger brand are of good quality? Where to buy? It came with 20 lbs of traeger oak pellets and 40 pounds of pellets by B&B. So I'm going to compare those first.

The grill came with a cover and pop up front shelf. Any other accessories I should look into?

It's gonna be a great summer

I use mostly apple and hickory pellets. Amazon is the easiest place to buy. Costco carries a mixed blend that's good. Cheap pellets leave lots of ash in the hot pot or whatever they call it. Make sure you clean it out after use. I use apple wood for poultry. Hickory for pork. I had mine for 4 years and use it a lot. Traeger rubs are good also. I'm making a chicken tonight. They are the best.

B and B is all you need. It's the Indian not the arrow.

As previously stated, a wireless digital thermometer. I recommend getting one that has more than one probe so you can monitor multiple meats at the same time.

You may also want to buy some containers to keep your pellets in to keep them dry. Some people use simple buckets with lids. I bought the charcoal bins used for travel/tailgating and they work great. You can find these at most hardware stores.

Also, you want to keep the fire pot and auger clean. I vacuum mine out after every 2-3 cooks. It takes less than 5 minutes to do, but will help prevent flare ups, etc. So, the other "accessory" I recommend is a shop vac.

Can you cook steaks on a Traeger Pro?

I don't know about the Pro. I have a small one and got it over 500.

Nope. But I've done some tails with my steaks.

You could but if you like a good sear I would use traditional wood or charcoil.
