Anyone here cook traditional Italian food? I was told its an all day job, and easy to screw up. Can anyone confirm this?

I make meatballs and spaghetti from time to time.
Takes about an hour.
I also order pizza. That can take up to an hour.

Sorta depends on the dish.

Caponata is one I've done that, if done right, takes a few days.

i do a ton of sauces and pastas, baked ziti, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parm, etc.... It doesn't take me all day just a few hours depending on what dish i'm cooking.

And the region. What most Americans think of as Italian food isn't cooked in large parts of the country.

Like all cooking it depends on the dish.
Some are quick
easy dish
and
Some take some time
Google "easy Italian dish recipes"
and start there. in no time at all you will be headed toward more adventurous stuff.

This. I follow this American food blogger on Instagram and Snapchat who moved to Italy when she was young. She is always posting her Italian cooking - mostly Roman cuisine - and a lot of it is surprisingly simple.

My bolognese takes 6-8 hours.
Homemade pasta takes 15 minutes, then rest for 30 minutes or so, then rolling out and shaping takes another hour or so depending on what you are making.
It is quite a bit of work, but the result is worth it.

Her name is Elizabeth Minchilli, she has a pretty good food blog too if you google her.I think she also developed an app for restaurant recs in Italy, but it's $4 to download each city's guide. I'd have probably downloaded them if I had known about her back in May when I was over there.

Yeah. My bolognese takes about 5 hours. It's a northern Italian meat bolognese. So rich and so much depth.
