The last two gas grills I purchased have been huge disappointments. They rust out and fall apart at the same rate as my $100 Wal Mart special I originally owned.
I'd be very wary of spending serious money on a gas grill.

That would be the last one I purchased. Cannot recommend. The ignitor went out almost immediately. After a few months, the infra red parts became impossible to clean and fell apart when I removed them. Plus, the pan and parts began rusting out at the exact same rate as my earlier cheap arse grill.
Yes I kept it covered and cleaned it.

Something between $2,500 and $5,000. That might not meet some people's definition, but I am used to cooking with a 22 inch Weber charcoal kettle.

Same here. I've had a couple of gas grills, and I made the switch to only charcoal a few years ago and am never going back.

Y'all need to get a BGE, Primo or Kamado Joe. Your food will taste way better and you can smoke on it. Your grill will last a lifetime for 1-2k.

I've got a WSM and a gas grill (and a weber kettle). They all serve a purpose. If you don't mind spending the money on propane, you can smoke anything on them too. I've got a gas grill that gets as low as 175 and god knows how high, and that plus the a-maze-n smoker and you can smoke anything on that.
I love the BGEs/Kamado cookers, but nothing beats firing up a gas grill and cooking in five minutes when I come home without a lot of time to cook. I don't need charcoal (lump or otherwise) for hot dogs, hamburgers or a chicken breast. Plus my wife can operate the thing, which is a plus

I bought a Crown Verity last October for tailgating. It's a beast and durable as hell. I have sold several grills since this has replaced them.
