Tomato based curry sauce recipe?

I have a bunch of tomatoes I bought on sale and was planning on making a big pot of a curry sauce that I can freeze for later. Looking for ideas that don't require whole spices. Tia.

Your easiest and cheapest bet is getting some premixed dry spice packs from an Indian store and then adding that with some cream or yogurt to the tomato sauce. You can get individual spices, but that can sometimes be more hassle than it's worth.

I made this last night and will try it with some chicken tonight, will probably add some cream to the sauce as well. Seems pretty good but next time I will use less red onion. The guy in the video said 1:1 on tomato/red onion but the red onion flavor is a bit much for me. I also added some Garam Masala which helped the flavor a lot.

I ended up browning 2 chopped onions with a teaspoon of sugar and teaspoon of salt to help browning. Added 4 cloves of garlic, 2 jalapenos and a tablespoon of garlic. My spice mixture was 1/2 a teaspoon each of coriander, turmeric, garam masala, chile powder, paprika, cumin, red pepper flakes, and 1 teaspoon of curry powder. Then added 4 chopped tomatoes a up of water and a teaspoon of chicken base. I let it simmer for probably 3 hours before finishing it off with a 1/4 cup cream. Came out really good. I will try to post a pic later.

Looks good.
I've found that northern India/Punjab recipes/dishes have a tomato base.

I have mine simmering with the chicken right now. Added some cayenne and cream tonight plus a little more salt and garlic powder. I still think something is a little off about the flavor but it tastes much better now. I think it is either the insane amount of red onions or the crazy amount of chili powder. The guy in the video added a LOT and I was drunk when I made this so I just went for it.
I love chili though and that has tons of chili powder so I don't think that is it. I might try less onions next time and do only some red onion and the rest yellow or white.
The sauce made enough for me to make us dinner tonight with leftovers and I have enough left for another meal so it will go in the freezer. May try a vegetable version with the sauce next time.

shite, I was hungover and the Saints were about to start when I posted this. When he says chili powder he means cayenne not our "chili" powder and if you put in one cup of cayenne it will light you up. I put in 1/4 cup and added more after it was cooked. Sorry about that. Hope it comes out edible.

It was actually delicious. I wondered if he was using cayenne but figured it was WAY too much. I put in a sprinkle and was worried that was too much. I don't know how they handle that much spice! I use chili powder in a number of Indian dishes so the flavor is nothing new to me. This ended up tasting a lot like my butter chicken but with a deeper flavor profile.
