i've got a feeling this beer is going to be awful

I think a lot of people won't like it, because they're expecting bourbon barrel stout and are going to get tart from it.

It's not my favorite beer, because I'm not a huge fan of tart stouts. That doesn't mean the beer is bad though. There's definitely a difference.

well my main reason for saying it will be awful is Tin Roof simply hasnt even shown they can "master" any of their standard offerings. All of their beers are pretty meh, expect smiling ivan and it's not THAT good.

now they have this half brew experiment that seems pretty similar to other recent releases by larger breweries (founders, terrapin) that they stumbled upon in a batch of half good, half sour barrels..... yum!

i'll let someone else try it first.....

A lot of people wrote them off a long time ago and won't give them a chance. They cleaned house last summer and are actually doing some good things now that they have people who know what they're doing brewing for them. Many will refuse to admit it though.

Only thing I hate about them is that instead of perfecting a beer, they put it out to the public and then the public doesn't like it so they go back to the drawing board. I hardly ever see other breweries doing this trial and error approach.

Because they were brewers opening a brewery. They were marketers that opening a brewery.

I think they realized the product has to catch up with the rest of state. Honestly, it wasn't that long ago that Ivan would have been one of the better beers in the state.

I think they've learned their lesson.

Have you not followed the life of Envie and Ghost from the so-called "holy-grail" of LA brewers, Parish.

While I agree that Parish changes a lot of things, I don't think Andrew would dump a product on the market that he felt wasn't good.

I just don't have much hope they can put out a good barrel aged beer since they have a hard time with putting out good consistent everyday beers.

Ghost at one point last summer was most definitely dumped on the consumer. They even admitted that it was off. I still see plenty of 12/15 Envie that they released a few days before new yeast Envie. GR also released an off batch of Grace and Grit last year.
