I'm gonna start with some financial incentive for people who are thinking of growing veggies and cost.

Right now I've got 140 Thai peppers on 12 potted plants. I'll start harvesting next week when some start turning red. Here are my costs:

1. Seeds ... $2 (it was a 4 dollar pack but I froze half for next year)
2. Soil ... free. I have a compost pile and the worms do the work.
3. Water ... free. I have a rain bucket near the rood. I didn't buy a rain bucket. It was an old kitchen can with a broken top that I was gonna throw out.
4. Insecticides... free. I examine the plants and when I see a pest I flick it off with my finger.
5. Energy .. free. The sun.
6. Fertilizer .. free. I don't need any.
7. Containers .. free. I saved pots from shrubs and rose plants from 20 years ago when I built the house.

I'll have well over 500 peppers by Oct. For a total cost of 2 bucks.

And, if you're thinking...'what about labor, Zach?'
I love working in the garden. It keeps me off the streets.

My tomatoes are about 8ft tall. I'll work on a picture. I've made about 8 gallons of salsa so far.
3 big beef
2 creole
1 sweet 100

1 plant of each pepper
My habaneros are making like crazy. I've harvested about 50 so far.
Jalapeños are weak. Not doing well at all
Cayennes are coming in nicely now. 30 so far.

I'm ready to plant my pumpkin seeds next week!!!!

I'm guessing you have to stake them at that height. My peppers are up to 4 feet but still aren't tilting.

I harvested about 10 tomatoes a month ago and have 5 or 6 more green ones still on the plant.
I'm still eating of my Swiss chard but it is starting to Peter out. I put it on my lunch Sandwhich like lettuce.
Basil, parsley, mint and oregano all doing well.
Harvested 8 bell peppers about 2 weeks ago.
My jalapeno fruited and then croaked....not sure what happened.

x just pulled up my head lettuce and replaced it with red bell pepper. already have 2 pretty large peppers but they're still green
x planted 2 creole tomato plants in late April. they're up to 5 ft and have about 30 that are coming along. still pretty small and green
x strawberry plants still producing but starting to taper off

Mint, sage & basil doing fine.

Chives look scrawny.

Rosemary drowned in all the rain.

We took a couple of week long trips back in April/May and both times it didn't rain a drop. Now that we're back for a while it won't stop raining long enough for anything to dry out.

Peppers-banana, red & purple bells, jalapeños are doing great
Eggplants-(2 plants) had a run of about 6 but they seem to be struggling now, still producing flowers but they fall off???
Cucumbers-doing ok, not my best year for them
Tomatoes-celebrity, creole, Roma, better boys are doing well
Cherokee Purple tomatoes-first time I ever planted these & they are doing better than I thought, heard stories of low yield; I've been pleased with my harvest so far but the heat is taking its toll on them now. Will say, they are hands down the BEST tasting tomatoe I've ever tasted.

Made a few batches of homemade Italian sauce, homemade rotel, icebox pickles, pickled jalapeños, & pickled banana peppers

I have small garden near my house and I prefer to grow up different kinds of vegetables like as potatoes, corn, tomatoes, wheat and others.
