TIL: Asian Market edition, plus Lays

Recently swung by the Asian Market in BR, at Sherwood and Florida.
Among the many impressive things, I was shocked to learn that Lays Potato Chips offers for sale there a dozen or more asian influenced flavors that I’ve never seen or heard of!
Including but not limited to the several that we tried:
Roasted Cumin Lamb Skewer.
Spicy Hot Pot.
Fried Crab.
Spicy Pepper Squid - rough.
Seaweed.
Something looks like chicken skewers, no English description.
Something with beer mug and what looks like shrimp skewers, no English description.
Most tasted pretty remarkable however the squid was kinda rough.
I can provide pics of the chip bags if desired.
There were probably another 5-10 that we didn’t try yet.
Overall I was pretty impressed with the market and will now include it in my pilgrimages to the BR.

I love going to asian markets and seeing all the crazy stuff they have. Lots of brands do special flavors for Asian cultures...I guess they don't sell as well in the U.S. so you don't see them much.

Wish I lived closer to that one. The one on Perkins is nice for basic things, but not near the variety of stuff the big one has

That one, and for me the other options are Metairie (decent) and Honk Kong mart in Gretna, which is the Mecca around here. Huge.
However, square foot for square foot, the BR Florida one competes pretty strongly.

I went to the resturant in that shopping center a few weeks ago and me and my girl were very scared because it was a very large establishment and we were literally the only 2 there. We sat down and I really contemplated leaving. I asked them what each dish was and they really couldn't tell me anything...
I ordered the Singapore noodles and I was blown away by how they tasted and the amount. I will actually be back for just those haha.

I got to the one in Biloxi on occasion when we are hankering for homemade asian food because they have the best and most wide variety of stuff.
my wife is native alaskan and she always gets asked if she is vietnamese by the folks shopping.

It's for real. Hot pot at a restaurant in the US and a hole in the wall spot in "rural" China are two totally different things.
