We have some time to kill day drinking in BR this Friday afternoon (Bama weekend) or after dinner on Friday night. We were looking at Olive or Twist in BR. Never been. Thoughts? We are 3 60+ year olds and my young daughter, age 28 (no pics). We love bourbon cocktails and good drinks. Good idea or is there a better place for day drinking? We like The Bulldog and make day drink there, but drinks are so so (of course, good beers). Give me some good ideas or confirm we selected the best spot in BR. We are coming into BR for Bama weekend. Thanks in advance.

I think you'll enjoy Twist just fine. They make great drinks, and the atmosphere is pretty chill for day drinking.

Post dinner, however, I'd go Hayride Scandal. Prohibition speakeasy atmosphere -- dark inside, beautiful antique furniture, and old black and white films playing on the TVs. Very good drink menu, and a wide variety of patrons hanging out in there.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will let you know if we go to Hayride. We love Speakeasys.

MidCity Beer Garden but you may not want to venture that far out. I'll second Hayride it's fantastic and I like it more than O&T.

Are you a pretentious cocksucker ? If not, avoid shitty arse Hayride Scandal. If you are, well...enjoy!

Why do you get so many downvotes for generally helpful posts?

You will love Olive or Twist. Great bourbon selection and cocktails. They don't have as many taps as the Bulldog, but they have more quality beers on tap IMO.

Olive or Twist - it's so loud in that place when it's crowded, not crazy about the layout of the place but the drink specials are good and the food is decent

Bulldog is more of bar atmosphere than Olive or Twist

I really like City Pork for drinks and food

Olive or Twist is a good spot and has good food, you'll be happy there. Nothing in BR is worth driving across town for, so i assume you're staying close to there. Solou next door is good too.

Olive or Twist is a great place for a drink. They have an outstanding selection of spirits and some really tasty cocktails

Hayride Scandal is also a nice place for a drink. A very chill atmosphere with good drinks and nice people.

Meh. I’ve never dug it. The layout does suck. And too noisy when crowded. A couple of good bartenders there though. But I know them from other places.

Hayride is better. Cove is better. Radio is better. Bulldog is better. Mid City Beer Garden. Spoke N Hub.
