Couldn’t agree more. My perspective is that Wolf is the best based on my uses and preferences. And someone with similar needs may have a completely different bias than my own.
Cheers brother.

I have the 48 inch Thermadore with the grill. People are always amazed at the results from the grill and it makes things happen on a rainy day. I have had the range for several years with zero issues. Very happy with it.

Blue star will be my next rangetop.

Reading reviews on the blue star and a few have said the outsides get very hot when baking (not good as i have small kids in the house) and the knobs are shoddy and become loose and have a lot of play. These may be old reviews. Is this the case?

Have you considered induction?
Posted on 3/12/19 at 1:44 pm to KosmoCramer
yes, i have. I'm going with gas.

The only reason I brought it up again is because you said you have small children in the house.
A significant benefit of induction is it can't be turned on without something for it to conduct with (pots/pans). And the surface doesn't stay hot.
Best of luck.

Knobs do get hot....I have no crumb crushers running around in my house, so I’m no judge of whether it’s kidproof or not. I don’t think the knobs get hot enough to actually blister, its more of a very hot to the touch.
5+ years of heavy use, no knob failures.
You could always take the knobs off when you’re not cooking—that would kid proof it, no? I mean, any stove with front side knobs is a potential kid issue.

actually what i had seen was the top of the storage drawer/storage drawer would get hit when the oven was on. he sprayed it with water and it sizzled (in youtube video). not the knobs getting hot.

Storage drawer? Do you mean the drip tray? My range has no storage drawer.
If you are referencing the drip tray that sits beneath the unsealed burners, it is directly above the oven. So yes, it gets hot, but it is directly above the oven opening. It does not stick out past the knobs or the oven handle.
You’d have to be reaching for it.
Look, I crank mine up to 500 all the time for pizza. I’ve never burned myself on the knobs or the drip tray. I’m not saying that a toddler wouldn’t, but shouldn’t you keep the toddler away from the stove anyway?

Maybe not a drawer but the sheet metal below the oven door.
And that part is ground level so in a todler’s wheel-house.
I agree, they won’t be touching the handles.

Have you cooked on an induction top before?

Oh, you mean the panel at the bottom front below the oven door. Hmm, I never noticed if it gets hot. Okay, my oven is on right now, I’m making biscotti, gonna go see if it can touch it. (Gets up from table)
Yes, that panel is hot. I put my hand on it for 1, 2 Mississippi. I never noticed that before, but I can see how a wandering kid in the kitchen might be surprised by it. But hey, they’ll learn quick that stove = hot.....lolz.

Hell if I know, but Blue Star calls theirs a Rangetop.
Posted on 3/12/19 at 9:37 pm to Btrtigerfan
A cooktop drops into a cutout in the counter allowing the cabinet to remain intact (you still lose room in the top of the cabinet typically with a panel cover the top portion of the cabinet with drawers below). The heating controls are on top.
A rangetop is longer, and deeper than a cooktop and has knobs on the front where the cabinet would be. It's not cut into the counter, but is flanked on either side by them.
