Really it's my only complaint. The servers were attentive, the food was authentic and fresh, the theming was pretty good, but the music ruined the feel of the theming.

Those suggestions are good or hell pop someone's iPod in and tune it to Pandora "Pub Songs" station.

The true quality pubs don't have music at all, and get upset if you ask.
That's one of my few complaints about The Bulldog... having to yell over the music.

If you make it like a bar, you'll get a bar crowd.
If you make it a "pub and grill" you'll get that crowd.

i wouldn't say 'blare' it, as much as just play some background noise...

Going over at 6:15 today. As for the music that can be fixed with a subscription to Sirius. Don't they have a jukebox as well?

If you tell me they have a jukebox that features the Pogues, I've died and gone to heaven.
Saw this issue coming a loooong time ago.

I really didn't check out the jukebox, but isn't it one of those internet jukeboxes that can find virtually any song you want to hear? And also, wouldn't the jukebox override the radio?

There was a digital jukebox on the wall, but I didn't see the music selection. To keep with the theming ( I mean it's named the Londoner), the music should be a mix of modern European and Pub Songs (traditional English/Celtic). That would really tip this place from being really good to great.

I know Sirius has the BBC channel but I think it's bubble gum pop and dance. Not sure if they have a pub style channel. Hmmm...

If not Pandora on an iPod would fix that depending on how the sound system is rigged up.

Still waiting for that one person to chime in who claims they actually want 103.3 on in the pub.

yeah 103.3 has no identity..
MMMM Bop to Dr. Dre to Stone Temple Pilots don't do it for me.
I need quality music when I'm drinking

I could list a couple hundred accessible stations that would suit that place well

Haha I heard Mmm Bop and was like WTF. I really hope they choose the European (modern) and English/Celtic (traditional) route.

Theming is a HUGE part of the experience. I eat out away from my house as a small escape for living in BR...

It's the same reason why I like La Madeline. The theming kind of takes you away for an hour. Yeah this sounds ridiculous to most of you here, but theming goes a long way to making the experience complete.

went today for lunch....with a buddy, and we noticed when "tootsie roll" came on as music.....the music box on the wall is customer chosen..........

I had the Grilled Chicken and Avacado Sub and my friend ordered the Red Wine Braised Flank Steak on Ciabatta. We both thought our sandwiches were really good.....especially for "bar" food.

The french fries were awesome.

The wait staff is being "weened" - as they determine who can and who cant cut it......

Our waiter was very helpful and friendly.......and said they make everything fresh - EVERYTHING. Said they even crush their own herbs. Freezer is very tiny......with very little in it.

I will go back. Good experience today for lunch. Would be a cool place on our side of town to have a beer. Decor looked similiar to the Bulldog.........

I think the last few reviews were spot on, however I personally place way more emphasis on the food, service, and vibe. All of which the place grades out at an A especially since it just opened. For example, I don't go for really good Mexican or Asian for the authentic music. FWIW. Great place! BR needs a place like this. Just download the soundtrack to Riverdance and plug into your iPod and prob solved!
