yeah .. that is all i eat when i go there is the oysters ... their gumbo is really really iffy over there too .. the best gumbo in that area, believe it or not, is at portobello's ..

The best time to go to City Cafe is during brunch. I have found that their brunch menu items are much better than the regular menu.

Brunch is killer, cant go wrong with the hangover hamburger. Wife loves the bottomless champagne for $6.

Portobello's does brunch also. I've been meaning to try it but haven't gotten around to it yet. I'll try the gumbo next time I go. My favorite gumbo in the area is probably the duck (chicken) and sausage gumbo at The Chimes, one of the few things I like there.

Even though that's chicken and not duck ..

Squeaky always comes over and shakes my hand. That makes me feel wanted...I heart Squeaky, but they have this one waitress who just dominates a pair of jeans with her tight little arse, and I heart her a little more than I do Squeaky.

I think I know who you're talking about, Skilly ..

The cocktails there are money too, and very reasonably priced.

I fear that I could be easily IRL outed tonight, because Tuesday night is when City Cafe has their special on the oysters. The talk about the chargrilled oysters in this thread has got me yearning for them badly along with a couple (4) of cold draft beers.

I may be at the Cafe this evening as well. Hot chargrilled oysters on a cold day sounds good.

Posted on 11/13/12 at 10:35 am to BilJ

Posted on 11/13/12 at 10:44 am to Skillet
yeah, they're .89 each tonight .. one word of warning .. double check your bill before you pay tonight .. each of the last two tuesdays they still had the regular $15.99 price on the dozen ..
