I just recently moved into the Commerce building downtown and walk around alot. I would say they're only about 20 places. Davis Rhorer says 65.
What say you?

As someone who works downtown, I'd say you're way low. With that said, it depends on how you define "downtown" and "restaurant".

I would certainly trim quite a few off list, but considering it starts at 78, 65 doesn't sound unreasonable.
Also, what prompted such a specific question?
ETA: Just saw your edit, so ignore my last question

65 sounds very high. That has to be including surrounding areas.

Just running through the list I posted, I got to about 50 with the ones I'm familiar with. Sure, that requires counting Canes, Roly Polly, etc, but still.

If you're including weekday lunch places 65 is probably right. If you're looking for dinner on a Sunday though you're still kinda screwed.
Was down there earlier and was surprised Magpie didn't open today, figured the marathon folks would represent thousands of their target demographic.

How is that Commerce building? Turn out ok? I went through the building a year before they gutted it.

I'm curious as well. I seriously considered leasing there, but ended up deciding I couldn't justify the increase in rent over my current apartment.

I was in the exact same boat. I'd really like to get a condo downtown (and not have to just pay rent) but all they seem to want to build is apartments. Anyone know the reason for this?
To the OP: they definitely included some on the outskirts based on skimming through the list.

Blame it on the downtown development district.....

I did a tour of the Commerce Building before it opened. The apartments are real nice. One of the people on the tour said he lived in 440 on Main - the apartments over Matherne's - and commerce was nicer. They aren't cheap, and they're a little small, but they do a good job of using the space. If you worked downtown, they would be a good deal.
