Where is the best sushi in Lafayette?

Going to Hunter Hayes tonight and looking to grab some grub prior to the show.

I hear Tam's Samurai Sushi is real good. That's all I've got.

Oishi sushi is the best in the city, but it's basically a take out place since they only have like 5 tables.

Oishi is legit but prepared to wait a while. It's operated by one man and his wife

Tam does good stuff. Corner of Johnston and Caffery behind tokoyo steayhouse that used to be Bennigans. ALso Sakura on Johnston closer to College is good IMO.

I've also heard Oishi Sushi is the best.

Like uncle jack said, it's only run by a guy and his wife, so you'll have a significant wait.

Twice I've called in to place a take out order, and twice they didn't even answer the phone.

For this reason, I'd scratch this place as a recommendation.

Sakura on Johnston is a good rec, and close to the dome.

Is that place in that strip with the Mexican hacienda restaurant near Morgan intersection?

I think Oishi is the best. After that there are many that are tied IMO
Sakura, Samurai (Ambassador and Johnston), Shinto, etc..

I'd say Tsunami is overrated as far as sushi goes.
You can't go wrong with many places

There's a place I went to twice called Fuji. Deliciously, exquisitely presented sushi.. But ridiculous wait times were too much to warrant going back. I would highly recommend going here to try if it's a weeknight and you can spare some time.

+1 on Fuji. Very, very clean little place, but a tad short on ambience, although not a deal breaker by any means.

The owners really try to get to know you, and will remember your roll preferences as you become a regular.

ETA: BayouWrangler, thanks for the follow up.
