Margs will frick you up, but I'm fairly certain they're putting everclear or some shite in their mix that does that

This!!! They definitely add everclear to the margs!!! They 'overdosed' the machine one night and myself and friends got totally fricked up!!!

Let me clear this up for y’all. What is in the House Frozen Marg coming out of the machine vs what is in a bar made or Top Shelf are two vastly different recipes. The one in the machine has the grain alcohol. So you are both technically correct.

This is correct. Jones is confused because he gets top shelf.

I don’t get the knock on the food. Their grilled items are especially good. But the favorite for me is getting the queso and adding brisket into it.

The food is perfectly fine tex-mex, and the margaritas will get you buzzing.

All of it is overpriced. Except for the chips and salsa.

Yeah you definitely have to order creatively to keep the prices reasonable. There’s a combo enchilada plate with 3 enchiladas, plus rice and a cup of soup, for $14. Not bad. But a lot of the plates are $20+.

Highland runs their HH from 3-630 so we to-go get margs anytime we are nearby. I won’t buy one full price out of principle.

no they do not have the OG queso. I was talking to one of the bartenders one day about this and he said that he worked at the one in Shreveport during one of the hurricanes and said the one in sheave port is just melted cheese in a bowl. I asked him if he really worked there and he assured me it was just melted cheese in a bowl.

That dude didnt know what the hell he was talking about because i have the recipe for the shreveport OG quese.

Ahh another Mexican food hipster who claims that Superior is just another overrated place and everyone doesn’t know “real” Mexican food.

I don't even like Superior but I get so frustrated every time someone mentions where you could go get "authentic" Mexican food. If the person isn't asking for authentic then quit trying to look like you know it all by telling them where to get the "real deal." I prefer Tex-Mex over authentic every day of the week. I appreciate authentic as well but Tex Mex is really good and plenty of people like it. There is a reason that Tex-Mex outnumbers authentic 10-1 in most places around here.

That being said, Superior sucks. Overpriced and not nearly as good as many other places in town. Atmosphere is awesome but I am too old for all of that now.

no one disagrees with this but this isnt a reason to say it sucks.

Name one tex mex place in baton rouge that has better food. Do not take into account price.

Superior Grill on Highland

Much rather the one on Gov't
I gave Highland 3 chances.... 3 strikes
First Visit: Chips were literally crumbs that you could not use. Manager walked by and grabbed it and apologized (Impressed that he did it without us asking but still shouldn't have served them to start). Queso is different from Gov't and was very watery. Much prefer the queso on Gov't.
Second Visit: They got my order wrong
Third Visit: Got crumbs again, but this time, we requested new chips and they seriously brought more crumbs. So my wife stopped another waiter and ask if he could bring us some chips we could actually dip with

If we go to Superior from now on, it is on Gov't

Sounds like random bad luck.

Ive been more than double your amount of visits and have never had a problem with the chips or our orders.

Id easily say they have to best waitstaff of any of the texmex places in BR

Ahh I hate it therefore I might be a "hipster".

My issue is maybe because I lived in Houston a good bit of my lfe Ive had "text-mex" that doesnt taste like it came straight out of a microwave. Actual flavor that can be distinguishable is also something Superior lacks.
