I find myself with 5-6 lbs of sunflower kernels (just the nut part, not unshelled seeds). Any suggestions on using lots and lots of them, besides grinding into nut butter or using to fill a bird feeder? TIA>

My first thoughts was some sort of cookies or granola which might be good Christmas gifts or office treats.
I came across this recipe which looks good and also suggests some variations.

Hmm, I like the idea of sunflower seed baklava, but I dunno if I'd swap apricot preserves for the more traditional sugar or honey syrup. Seems like it would not improve the texture. But otherwise, good idea.

This is more like a suggestion than a recipe: toss the seeds in olive oil, salt, and spices, (I've used red peppers flakes and ground ginger), toast them and sprinkle them over cooked greens. Looks like a lot of folks on the board have good collards, turnip and mustard greens in the garden right now...

Make sunflower seed butter. May not be the best way to utilize them but shite, you have 5 pounds of them! It’s pretty good as well
