Ive tried about every Abita there is and most of the Tin Roof and Natchez Bluff city Blonde.

Im far from knowing a lot about beer but would like to open my eyes to some new varieties in 2017. Any suggestions and advice is appreciated.

Parish Brewing out of Broussard, La. is for my money, the best brewery in the state. I think you can get their beers in NOLA. Ghost in the Machine is their double IPA. It's quite good but tough to get hold of. Envie is kind of a baby Ghost, you can find that a little easier. Canebrake is their flagship brew. It's very drinkable and you can find it on tap at a lot of places.

NOLA Brewing is quite good too. It's pretty easy to find and they have a cool tap room. Pretty much everything they put out is strong. Irish Channel Stout is a good beer.

Parish Brews are the nectars of the Gods according to some.

Southern Prohibition - Brewed in Hattiesburg
Lazy Magnolia - Brewed in Kiln

Two that are easy to find in Mississippi

Parish in Lafayette is a must
Gnarley Barley in Hammond is legit
Sothern Prohibition in Hattiesburg MS is Excellent

My top 3 favorites

I am now a fan of how Ms does the beer thing onsite. You pay a flat fee, usually under 10 bucks, for a tour. You then get tabs to turn in for beer samples. They are very generous with the samples. Very. I have never walked out wanting more. If you go with your GF or wife, you may even get her beer tabs that she don't use. Drinking 6+ beers for 8 bucks is hard to beat
In La you just have to buy the beer. Cost more

This is just my 2 cents on the 3 MS "tours" I have been on. Lazy Magnolia, SPB, and Chandeleur in Gulfport

Really? Georgia does that and I hate it. I'd much rather be able to go when I want and order what I want. Seems so archaic to me to have limited hour tour sessions.

I agree BUT 2 of the three I listed poured damn near full glasses, Gave us samples of other beers not listed, and gave us a bomber bottle to go that was not listed. So far I have had a lot to drink at those MS breweries for under 10 bucks. Walked out one place with extra tabs once. So for now, their practice is working very well for me.

Their samples are regular style glasses, snifter or pint, poured half way. A very generous half way.

All 3 just walked in and drank, cought the tour at some point when the person there was ready to do so. 5 minutes worth

Went to the OM/UGA game in Athens 4 years back. Went to Terrapin Fri afternoon for the "tour". Paid like $15. After the 10 minute tour there was a jam band playing out back and 1st 8 pints were free. It was incredible.
